Description
Bidding and predicting wins are what make playing Bid Whist fun and exciting, whether you win or lose.

The objective of Bid Whist is to score 7 or more points or force the other team to go negative 7 or more points.

Bid Whist is played with 4 players consisting of two teams. Each player sits opposite their partner. It is played with a standard 52 card deck plus 2 jokers. The 2 jokers must be distinct, big joker and the other is the little joker. Each player receives 12 cards. During the deal, 6 cards are to be placed face down in the center of the table to form a kitty.

Bidding starts with the player to the left of the dealer. Each bid consists of a number from 3 to 7, and a suffix “Uptown”, “Downtown”, or “No trump”. The highest bidder chooses the trump suit, or in the case of a no-trump bid specifies whether it will be played uptown or downtown. The bidder then picks up the 6 kitty cards and discards away 6 cards.

If the bid is no trump, all the suits are non-trump suits. If there is a trump suit in the upcoming hand, and if jokers are being used, the jokers become the best cards of the trump suit (better than the ace) regardless of whether high-ranking cards or low-ranking cards are the winners.

In Bid Whist each team begins with a score of zero. At the end of the round, the books are counted. There are 13 altogether, corresponding to the 12 cards played by each player plus the kitty, which counts as a book won by the bidder’s team. Each book won above 6 counts as a point.

If the winning bid was a no-trump bid, the score for the hand is doubled. The game ends when a team scores 7 or more points or forces the other team to go negative 7 or more points.
