The truth is, no one knows until you open them; It is up to you to find out. But beware: Sometimes crates disappoint, on other times they surprise. They really are mysterious. As for the prestige points, they are seen as their own currency down here. Apart from the money you make by selling your ores to the market, every time you do, you gain prestige points, which level up your prestige level.
