Description
M0DULATOR creates a series of micro sound environments for the iPhone and iPad. The entire work is an exploration in feedback loops and the tactility of sound. Based on previous works that have been released in iTunes by Andrew Blanton, M0DULATOR is an artwork and system designed explore the physical nature of sound through real time signal processing. Similar to the way that Alvin Lucier's 1981 work, 'I am sitting in a room' amplified the resonance of the room that he was recording in, M0DULATOR amplifies the incoming audio from the microphone and processes it in real time. The work is versatile and users are encouraged to explore the possibilities of the sound artwork / experimental audio work. For instance, the work can be plugged into a stereo to create a larger sound chamber, multiple devices running M0DULATOR will respond to each other, and multiple sensors in the device act as control parameters for the signal processing.
