Description
WGBH presents Monkey Match, the first iPhone app from Between the Lions, the Emmy award-winning literacy program on PBS Kids -- proven to help kids learn to read! Before kids learn to read, a lot of scaffolding has to happen. Monkey Match - created for pre-readers - provides a fun way to practice three important skills: the identification of letters, beginning sounds of words, and rhymes. 1. In the "Upper- and Lowercase Letters" portion of the game, players match uppercase letters to their lowercase counterparts, like "M" and "m." All the NAMES of letters are spoken. 2. In the "Beginning Sounds" portion of the game, players match pictures of words to their beginning sounds, like "moon" and "mmm." All the SOUNDS of letters are spoken, along with the WORDS. 3. In the "Rhymes" portion of the game, players match pictures of words to other words that rhyme, like "moon" and "spoon." All WORDS are spoken.
